Five Senses

God has blessed most of us with the five senses of touch, smell, taste, hearing and seeing. For those who are missing any of these senses, God has likely strengthened other senses. For example, Helen Keller was an amazing woman who lost her sight and hearing when she was just a toddler. Feel became her strongest sense when she was very young. She knew who was in the room with her by the vibration a person's walk created. More amazingly, her teacher, Anne Sullivan, taught her how to communicate - even with her voice. Helen Keller went on to become an author and a lecturer even though she was lacking two of her senses. She didn't use the lack of those as excuses to quit. Instead, she used her disability to forge ahead. For those of us with all five senses, we often use every excuse we can think of to put off, whether that's activities, getting a formal education or whatever else we should be doing. We need to be thankful for the senses God has given us and use them for good

Today is a Blessing

All of us know (or know of) someone who woke up one day and was going about their daily routine. Before the day was over, that person died. This happened to our son's fiancée's mother only a couple of weeks ago. After eight years into this serious relationship between our son and this wonderful young lady, I regret that I never had the honor to meet her mother. I had made suggestions from time to time but they were waved off as there will be plenty of time to meet her. Well, that time expired without any warning. The point is that none of us know when our last day will be. If you need to meet your son's or daughter's fiancée's family, do it now. And be intentional about enjoying each day God gives you. Thank him for each new day. Enjoy everything you have to do that day - even if it is work. Because God has provided that job, your family, your home and whatever else you're working for every day.
