A Month of Thanks

In my book, Women Making Time for God, and on my blogs for God, I have mentioned that we should be thankful. In most of my testimonies, I mention how I am thankful to God for all that he provides me and how I try not to complain to show my gratitude to God and everything he has given my family and me. Joyce Meyer wrote the article at the following link that I want to share with you today. The article is called "An Attitude of Gratitude". Joyce sums it up nicely. And being thankful does really make our relationship with God stronger. If you read my book, you'll know I was washing the dishes when I was reminded to be thankful for these chores and told by God to write the book.

The fourth Thursday in every November is Thanksgiving in the U.S., but I think if we all dedicate the entire month of November focusing on thanks, that being thankful will become a healthy habit we can use our whole lives to get closer to God. I practice this every day. I thank God before my feet hit the floor each morning - whether it's for a good night's sleep or for keeping me warm throughout the night or for the day he has planned for me.  I continuously thank him throughout the day. Maybe it's for the energy he has provided to get the work done or for the meal he gave me or the work that provides the money that will pay the bills. Everything my family has is from God - God's gift. From the home we live in, the cars we drive, the meals we eat, the dishes we eat off of, the mop and vacuum cleaner, the washer and dryer, our good health. And I strive to be thankful and take care of what God has provided for us instead of whining because the house needs to be cleaned or supper needs to be made or the dishes need to be washed or the laundry needs to be done or I have to spend an hour grocery shopping. Praise God! My family won't go hungry and we will live in a clean house and we can go to the closet to get out clean clothes to wear and we are protected from the elements when we go to bed at night. Get excited about what God has provided and do what has to be done with enthusiasm.

Blessings in Christ,
Patricia
